Hypnotherapy Session

Information
While the term “hypnosis” comes from the Greek word hypnos (meaning “sleep-like state”, most people successfully using Hypnotherapy describe the trance-like state more like a feeling of daydreaming. Healing House practitioners assist clients to enter this trance-like state through guidance and focus on deep relaxation.

While the practice of hypnosis and hypnotherapy goes back thousands of years, many uninformed of the origins, purpose, and process associate the practice with variety shows and boardwalk entertainment.

This couldn’t be further from the truth! It is a widely held belief that hypnosis works through altering the client’s state of consciousness in a way that turns off the left side (analytical) of the brain, and awakens the right side (non-analytical).

This allows the subconscious mind to connect to the ideas, thoughts, and behaviors that the conscious mind wants to change, in a way that is deeper and more intuitive than the analytical left brain often allows.

For example, you may have an unexplained fear of flying. No matter what you try, you cannot get over the fear. This is because your dominant left brain has told you that it understands the logic, but the hidden, non-analytical right brain, is holding on to the fear. By accessing this area through hypnotherapy, we can “talk” to the right brain through suggestions.

In addition to behavior modification, Hypnotherapy is also widely used to help alleviate or improve a variety of ailments and symptoms. Many patients use Hypnotherapy to treat conditions and symptoms such as:

  • Pain management
  • Anxiety
  • Stress
  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Sciatica
  • Arthritis/joint pain
Appointment Details
Before your first hypnotherapy session, your practitioner will meet with you to discuss your medical history, issues that you would like to address, goals for the session, and will discuss any questions or concerns that you may have.

Please ask questions! We understand that you may be nervous or unsure of what to expect, and we are here to help you understand the entire, complete process so that you can achieve the maximum benefits and results.

During your hypnotherapy session, you will be completely aware – and in control – of what is going on at all times. Hypnotherapy is not about control – think of it as a form of guided meditation. Your practitioner will use a variety of techniques that will encourage you to make the lifestyle and behavioral changes you desire.

At this time, the Hypnotherapist will make suggestions to the subconscious mind; ALL suggestions and goals are previously discussed and agreed upon with the client, and the client has the freedom to choose to leave this state at any time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Hypnotherapists licensed Doctors?
No. Hypnotherapists are Certified Counselors who specialize in generalized self-improvement therapy with behavior modification. In this particular profession, there is no licensing. A Hypnotherapist cannot refer to him/herself as a Doctor or Ph.D., without possessing the legitimate required credentials.
I’m worried I won’t have any control over what I say or do, even after the session ends
This is a very common question and one we receive often! No patient can be hypnotized by someone else. Rather, a patient accepts the guidance and support offered and provided by the Hypnotherapist, in order to achieve a hypnotic state on his/her own. The patient’s mind remains in control – at all times – and will reject and block all suggestions that are not agreeable with it.

Therefore, if your partner wants you to quit smoking, the suggestion will not work if you aren’t agreeable to it. Your mind will simply reject and block the suggestion because it must be your choice. So the key word here is agreeable. The purpose of achieving the hypnotic state is to create an agreeable environment and mental state that will encourage and allow the shifting of perspective within the mind + body state.

What does Hypnosis feel like?
It is important to understand that hypnosis is an extremely natural, regularly occurring mental state. When you “zone out” to a favorite song while driving, only to realize you’ve traveled for some distance completely unaware, is a form of hypnotic state.

Some patients don’t feel as though anything has transpired at the conclusion of the session, while others experience noticeable physiological changes. Usually, those immersed in this state will experience a deeper breathing rhythm, with heightened senses and a cool or tingling body sensation. The conclusion of the session should provide an overall sense of well-being and comfort.

I tried hypnotherapy before, and it didn’t work for me. Should I bother trying again?
While we can’t make generalizations or assumptions about the education and training of the Hypnotherapist you worked with, we can say that the proper education and training is vital to a successful session outcome. It is important the Hypnotherapist fully inform the patient of what to expect, with no question left unanswered. The more comfortable a patient is with the Hypnotherapist and the process, the more likely the desired results will be achieved. We invite you to meet with a qualified and educated Healing House practitioner, so we can work together to identify and achieve the desired results of Hypnotherapy.

We’ve Got the Happiest Patients in Scottsdale!

I went w/bad right shoulder. It has been hurting for about a year now. I was a little worried about seeing this type of Dr. It was a great experience and my shoulder has been nice since I left his office. It has been 2 days and it feels normal. Thank you! Fran C.

I love Dr. Muki. He is kind and very gentle. He really listens to me when I explain what is going on with my body. He knows what he is doing. Last time he treated my knees was in January and I haven’t had any pain in my knees since then. Now he’s treating another part of my body and I know that it won’t be long before my “problem” is taken care of. Manon K.
